Foreign institutional investor (FII) flows1: The outflows from the Asian equitymarkets further intensified in August as mutual funds sold off equities worth cUSD3.7bn– the highest monthly outflow so far in 2017.    Market wise, August outflows were driven by India (USD1.5bn) and Korea (USD1.2bn),which together accounted for nearly three-fourths of total outflows from the region.    Indonesia saw outflows for the fourth consecutive month. The Philippines was theonly market with net inflows (USD38m) in August.    Despite the outflows seen in the last couple of months, on a y-t-d basis total fund flowsremain quite strong in Asia at USD22.5bn. Taiwan (USD8.15bn), India (USD7.37bn)and Korea (USD6.37bn) have received the bulk of the funds this year. This alsomeans that we could see more outflows in the coming months.
