Ahead of Mexico’s rate decision this Thursday, we provide a summary of the central bank(Banxico) board members’ latest views about the balance of risks to inflation (Table 1). We alsoprovide a list of key indicators that Banxico monitors prior to deciding monetary policy (Table 2).。    Banxico’s latest update showed a slight reduction in its 2018inflation forecast; it is now a tadbelow 3.0%. Board members have stressed that upside inflation surprises are temporary,underlining the one-off influence from a jump in fresh food items. We think this theme will beprominent in coming statements, with the overall stated balance of risks likely remaining neutral.。    Inflation seems past its peak, despite temporary shocks. While 2017projections for growth haveimproved, domestic consumption is losing steam on the lagged and cumulative impacts fromprevious rate hiking. Despite record-low unemployment, there is little wage pressure.
