Regaining customer loyalty: The Unpacked event featured a video that opened with“I have faith in Samsung”—an apparent effort by Samsung Electronics (SEC) to regainloyalty for its Note series. The Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch screen, which is larger thanthe one on the Note 7 (5.7 inches) and Galaxy S8+ (6.2 inches), but has a smaller battery—ie, 3,300mAh vs 3,600mAh and 3,500mAh of S8+—to ensure stability.    SEC has used the Note series to introduce new features in the Galaxy line and the Sseries to upgrade them. This is also the case for the Note 8, which sports the first dualcamera in the Galaxy lineup. Smartphones featuring such a setup are quite common,but the Note 8 added optical image stabilization to both wide-angle and telephotolenses to differentiate image quality. By utilizing the two lenses, the Note 8 offers LiveFocus (leaving the subject sharply in focus and the background blurred) and DualCapture (taking two photos at once, with a photo coming from each lens), providingGalaxy users with new features to enjoy.    The S Pen, DeX (a docking station that plugs into a monitor, essentially turning thesmartphone into a PC), and Bixby voice assistant were upgraded to offer Live Message(users can use the S Pen to create an animated drawings that can be set in an instantmessage), Work & Play (users can participate in meetings while on the move), andimmediate execution of preset voice commands.    The model offers more storage options—ie, 62/128/256GB vs 64/128GB for the S8—and more RAM (6GB vs 4GB for the S8).    The Note 8 weighs in at 195g due to its larger size. The heaviest of its predecessorsweighed 176g.
